Why Bonaire is an ideal destination for families

Bonaire is one of the calmest and safest islands in the Caribbean. The island is small and easy to navigate, with a relaxed atmosphere that families immediately feel comfortable in. No crowded tourist hotspots, no traffic jams and no rush.

For children there is actually more to discover than you might expect. In the south of the island you can often spot pink flamingos walking around the salt flats, something that fascinates both kids and adults. In the north you will find Washington Slagbaai National Park, a beautiful nature reserve where you can drive through the landscape and stop along the way to explore. And a boat trip to Klein Bonaire, the small uninhabited island just off the coast, is a day most families will always remember.

The ocean naturally plays a big role here as well. The coral reef lies very close to shore and snorkeling is incredibly easy and accessible, even for children who have never tried it before. But it is not a must. There are plenty of things to enjoy for those who prefer to stay on land.

Staying in a villa simply makes the experience more relaxed. You have your own space, your own kitchen and no hotel schedule to follow. Your day unfolds exactly the way you want it to.
